Since 2019, Indonesian Dance Festival (IDF) has been operating under the Loka Tari Nusantara Foundation. This foundation was formed to ensure the longevity of the festival as the oldest dance festival in Southeast Asia, which holds its biennial festival as well as various educational programs throughout the year.
The foundation consists of three boards:
- The Board of Trustees chaired by Imron Zuhri, with members Melina Surya Dewi and Fransiscus Hariadi Jasim.
- The Board of Directors is under the leadership of RAJ Siti N. Kusumastuti (Nungki Kusumastuti), with Lisa Irawati as Deputy Chair.
- The Supervisory Board is under the guidance of Maria Darmaningsih and with Putu Fajar Arcana as a member.
The foundation’s operations are assisted by Esthi Nimita Tejawati as Secretary and Dhita Anindya Widyarani as Treasurer.
Maria Darmaningsih, Melina Surya Dewi, and Nungki Kusumastuti are notable dance figures who initiated the inaugural edition of the IDF in 1992, together with Sal Murgiyanto and supported by Tom Ibnur, Dedy Luthan, Farida Oetoyo, Julianti Parani, and Sardono W. Kusumo. The festival was born out of their longing to form a place for growth for young Indonesian dancers and choreographers. Maria, Melina and Nungki currently hold the role of Steering Committee that guides the young working team in preparing for the festival. IDF’s work in the world of Indonesian contemporary dance has been appreciated by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture (now Kemendikbudristek), the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, and the Indonesian World Record Museum.
