Agung Gunawan

Agung is the founder and director of Agung Dancing Center whose personal practice involves roles as a dancer, artistic director, choreographer, and vocalist. In his formative years as a dance practitioner, he was trained and mentored by some of Indonesia’s late maestros: Bagong Kussudiardja, RM Ywandjono, R. Aj. Sri Kadarjati, and Martinus Miroto. He has been an independent artist since 2005, residing in his hometown Klaten, Central Java while continuously investigating the boundaries of traditional and contemporary Javanese arts and culture.
