Five young choreographers performed their works, dance practitioners exchanged insights, while performing arts managers collaborated to make Lawatari: Yogyakarta happen.
Looking at one's own context is critical to find strategies for working in the dance sector with a variety of choices. The three practitioners in the discussion come from three different contexts, perhaps intersecting with each other, but in continued process exploring best strategies when faced with diverse challenges.
Imagination enables humans to create or transform something ordinary into the extraordinary, even when its form is still a fleeting thought in mind. This workshop hopes to be a space to spark participants’ creativity in using the body, things, and spaces around them.
Mila Rosinta Totoatmojo was born in Jakarta, May 15, 1989 and was seven when she encountered dance. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance Creation at the postgraduate of the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta. Having studied Balinese dance, Mila switched to Javanese dances and culture after joining Tembi Dance Company in 2009.
