How does a woman build and sustain an artistic practice as life continues to change? Making, in Her Own Rhythm brings together three choreographers from different generations, contexts, and artistic trajectories to reflect on how a practice grows alongside a life.
KONJO: Becoming Otherwise was developed through artistic research of the Konjo people of Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi. Culture is not treated merely as a symbol to be transposed onto the stage, but rather as a source of inquiry into how human beings shape themselves through their relationships with place, nature, community, memory, and "the other."
Densiel Lebang is an artist, choreographer, performer and cultural practitioner born in Bulukumba, South Sulawesi and based in Jakarta.
