
Siti Alisa
Siti Alisa is an independent dance artist based in Jakarta. Alisa studied classical ballet dance for 15 years at the Namarina Dance Academy and received an Advanced degree in Royal Academy of Dancing (ARAD). Alisa continued her studies at the Jakarta Arts Institute and graduated in 2017. Since graduating, she has continued to create choreographies until today. Her works over the last four years are Transference (2018), Train//Thoughts (2019), Akar Air dan Yang Jatuh (2021), and In Cycle (2022), which have been performed at several dance festivals at home and abroad. As a choreographer, she is the recipient of grants, including from the Asian Culture Council (ACC) and the Kelola Foundation for the international choreographer residency program at the 2019 American Dance Festival in Durham, North Carolina, USA and the South East Asian Choreographers Network Challenge Award 2021. Apart from creating works, Alisa teaches ballet at The Ballet Academy of Indonesia as well as being one of the creative teams of the Yayasan Seni Tari Indonesia. Her interest lies in creating works that explore ballet and modern dance styles immersed with contemporary context and raise Indonesian socio-cultural and political issues.
