“Welcome” is part of ‘Choreographing in the Cloud,’ a series of studies that started in 2020 through an archive of collaborative workshops, lecture performances, and video projects created by Buboy Raquitico as an attempt to adapt to the limitations posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in pursuing artistic work virtually. “Welcome” takes off as an ‘auto-videographical’ parody on ‘self-entertainment’, which incorporates distinct elements from karaoke videos.
Abib Igal
Abib Habibi Igal, a choreographer from Central Kalimantan, completed his undergraduate education at the Indonesian Art Institute (ISI) Yogyakarta with a major in Dance Choreography. Since 2012 he has continued to conduct research expeditions on Wadian Dadas, a healing ritual of the Dayak Ma'anyan tribal community in Central Kalimantan.
