In the world of dance, the development of creativity requires fertile ground that allows for the growth and development of sustainable art. This fertile ground includes not only adequate physical facilities and infrastructure, but also mental, social, and cultural support that can facilitate innovative artistic exploration. This discussion will explore how to create and manage an ecosystem that is conducive to the development of dance practitioners, by paying attention to their needs to produce artistically powerful works, while also contributing to knowledge production, social transformation, and cultural advancement. In addition, this discussion will explore the roles of various parties—government, cultural institutions, arts communities, and creative industries—in creating opportunities that are relevant to the local context. This topic will also highlight the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to open wider access for art practitioners, by bringing together perspectives and practical experiences from Indonesia and the Asian regions.
