The trigger was an undeniable fact, that the weather changes faster than Nout can imagine. This realization came through discussions with friends, family, and artists from various disciplines. Quips like; “it was better before”, “it’s no longer like it used to be”, “before it was like this, like that…”, moved her to express herself in questions about “change” – in everything: nature, society, humans. Nout questions the influence of these changes on her artistic practice, and on the essence of her work. And as a common thread; Nout’s own change and evolution, as an artist and a woman in a society that continues to experience endless metamorphosis.

Noutnapha Soydala
Noutnapha Soydala is a Lao dancer and co-founder of the Fanglao Dance Company since 2013 with the aim of developing the practice of contemporary dance and encouraging international artistic cooperation. She began learning Lao Traditional Dance at age of six during primary school in Vientiane. In 2006, She discovered contemporary dance during a dance workshop with Lao-French choreographer Olé Khamchanla.
