Muhammad Abe

Actor, producer, and researcher based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Director of Indonesia Dramatic Reading Festival (IDRF) since 2019. IDRF is the only programmed and curated playwrights festival in Indonesia since 2010. He also works as producer for Gymnastik Emporium, a collective that creates performances in public space through collaboration with the public. His interest lies in the intersection between performance and daily life, seeking new voices within the Indonesian theater landscape through new plays by young playwrights, and researching cultural policies of Indonesia’s government through the years. He lives with his small family in Yogyakarta, one of the largest centers of Indonesia's contemporary art community.
