Mang Tri Ray Dewantara

Mang Tri Ray Dewantara is a dancer and choreographer born in Ubud, Bali, in 2003. He began studying Balinese dance at the age of seven, focusing on Kebyar Duduk. Since 2016, he has studied under I Ketut Marya, the creator of Kebyar Duduk and engaged in the collection and exploration of archives related to the maestro.

His practice stems from the interplay between archives, the body, memory, and the shifting bodily constructions within Balinese dance, including issues of standardization. He is currently developing Dancing with Marya, a research-based performance work.

Mang Tri actively takes part in the Mulawali Performance Forum and teaches at the Lokananta Balinese Dance Studio, all while continuing to develop a choreographic and research practice rooted in Balinese dance.
