SUMMARY:Managing Fertile Grounds for the Growth of Dance Talents
DESCRIPTION:Panel:\nJoseph Lee\nKeni K.Soeriaatmadja\nJosh Marcy\nDr. Restu Gunawan M.Hum \nModerator:\nMuhammad Abe\n \nIn the world of dance\, the development of creativity requires fertile ground that allows for the growth and development of sustainable art. This fertile ground includes not only adequate physical facilities and infrastructure\, but also mental\, social\, and cultural support that can facilitate innovative artistic exploration. This discussion will explore how to create and manage an ecosystem that is conducive to the development of dance practitioners\, by paying attention to their needs to produce artistically powerful works\, while also contributing to knowledge production\, social transformation\, and cultural advancement. In addition\, this discussion will explore the roles of various parties—government\, cultural institutions\, arts communities\, and creative industries—in creating opportunities that are relevant to the local context. This topic will also highlight the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to open wider access for art practitioners\, by bringing together perspectives and practical experiences from Indonesia and the Asian regions. \nNo reservation needed. Register on the spot.

SUMMARY:Go In to Go Out
DESCRIPTION:Go In to Go Out is a performance development based on the artistic research platform “Membaca Sanghyang”\, (“Reading Sanghyang”) done by Wayan Sumahardika through a collaboration between Mulawali Institute with Geriana Kauh-Karangasem and Kepaon-Denpasar cultural villages in Bali. As a local collective ritual\, Sanghyang becomes a wellspring of meaning for foreign spectators who visit and watch. Oftentimes\, Sanghyang is exposed to the variance of narratives outside of itself and its supporting community. Go In to Go Out to re-examine the position and agency of the audience\, extending the choreographic experience of watching the Sanghyang ritual\, recognizing the events behind the sanghyang stage\, and its relationship to today’s urban reality. \nCredits:\nDirector & Writer: Wayan Sumahardika\nChoreographer & Dancer: Kevin Muliarta\nDancer: Dayu Tri\nVisual Designer & Mapping: Manik Sukadana\nMusic Arranger: Pasek Wijaya\nProduction Manager: Shafa Dhiyaliza\nProduction Team: Desi Nurani\, Jacko Kaneko\, Agus Wiratama & Mang Tri Ray Dewantara \n📍 Teater Wahyu Sihombing\, Taman Ismail Marzuki

SUMMARY:PING
DESCRIPTION:This work began with memories of Ela’s childhood experiences as a spectator of Bajidoran art. This Sundanese folk performance becomes Ela’s entry point to see the shift in the position of the hips and womanhood generally considered a symbol of fertility. The hips can be seen as the center of sexuality; expressive\, personal\, and intimate. However\, for Ela\, the hips are the main axis of movement that contains the meaning of the span of events in the past and present\, between the transcendent and the profane\, the private and the public\, and between the body and the stage. Ela sees that the hips are proven to be adaptive\, as it moves and becomes moved by the movement of the era. \nCredits:Choreographer: Ela MutiaraDancer: Ela MutiaraComposer: Gin Gigin \n📍 Teater Wahyu Sihombing\, Taman Ismail Marzuki

SUMMARY:90/NOW
DESCRIPTION:The trigger was an undeniable fact\, that the weather changes faster than Nout can imagine. This realization came through discussions with friends\, family\, and artists from various disciplines. Quips like; “it was better before”\, “it’s no longer like it used to be”\, “before it was like this\, like that…”\, moved her to express herself in questions about “change” – in everything: nature\, society\, humans. Nout questions the influence of these changes on her artistic practice\, and on the essence of her work. And as a common thread; Nout’s own change and evolution\, as an artist and a woman in a society that continues to experience endless metamorphosis. \nThe performance will have 3 parts:1. SUMMARY:Spiral Gong
DESCRIPTION:Created by Arco Renz\, Spiral Gong is a movement practice that energizes and connects mind and body\, allowing them to resonate and to move as one. Through specific breathing patterns\, participants will become more aware of their bodies in motion and explore the merging of opposing poles such as in-out\, open-close\, gather- disperse. Such operations are at the core of “Abstract Dramaturgy”\, a continuously evolving set of structural and choreographic processes in which dance becomes a live interaction between the dancer and the environment\, blurring the line between inside and outside\, self and other. Movements dissolve oppositions. Meaning\, narrative and dramaturgy are rendered as by-products of a process relating in movement. “Spiral” refers to energy patterns of breathing and movement in the body\, experienced as a pulse. While “Gong” symbolizes both work/effort (工) and the resonance of a gong instrument. \nThis class is open for PUBLIC/PROFESSIONAL DANCERS with the following requirements:\n– Has done routine physical training. \n📍 Studio Tari Besar\, Taman Ismail Marzuki

SUMMARY:We Are All Guests In This Universe
DESCRIPTION:What if the body no longer grows?\nTouching a dead form in a living body.\n \nThis workshop is a brief provocation from Fitri Setyaningsih through simple themes\, presenting or bringing to life components according to their nature at the moment or when they occur. Fitri invites participants to converse their anxieties on an unlimited focus of the body\, then spark a creational approach across media or disciplines. Fitri also shares her impressions of the participants’ creations and reflects them back to the participants\, exchanged and developed so that they can emerge into events or incidents with new artistic patterns at that very moment. \nThis class is open for PUBLIC\, with the following requirements:\n– An interest in interdisciplinary work. \n📍 Studio Tari Besar\, Taman Ismail Marzuki

SUMMARY:Festivals and City Dynamics
DESCRIPTION:Panel:\nYoi Jariyapun\nSekar Alit\nRatri Anindyajati\n \nModerator:\nRama Thaharani \nIn Asia\, performing arts festivals play a significant role in shaping a city’s sense of identity\, serving as a dynamic reflection of the region’s diverse localities and historicity\, as well as its communal values. They not only celebrate a city’s cultural diversity\, but also position it as a hub for artistic exchange and innovation at national\, regional and global levels. Through activities that enhance the city’s cultural image and engage the public\, these festivals encourage a deeper appreciation of the arts\, while inviting engagement in broader cultural discussions. This discussion will explore in depth how performing arts festivals play a vital role in promoting cultural\, economic and social vitality. More than just entertainment\, these festivals also serve as a platform for discussing contemporary issues\, inviting the public to think critically and engage in dialogue about the challenges faced in the era of globalization. \nNo reservation needed. SUMMARY:Dibungkus Level 5
DESCRIPTION:For Angga who grew up in Jakarta\, the activity of wrapping rice in food stalls has become a core memory and a tie-in to talk about many things. To him\, wrapped rice is very close as a metaphor for the urban living space and the middle- to lower-class people packed together and having to do anything in tight spaces to survive in it. Wrapping rice in food stalls is more than just dexterity\, but linked to self-representation and soul reflection. Wrapping rice is an endless training\, where someone hones inner tranquility while demanding neatness\, swiftness\, and effectivity. Beyond an external metaphor\, the wrap itself is a metaphor for the human continuously fixing within. This work explores a familiar activity that contains unique movement vocabulary bringing a complex reflection on self\, soul\, and its living space. \nChoreographer: Try AnggaraDancers: Savika Refa Zahira\, Niear Syahrani Putri\, Clausdios Stevan Marani\, Menthari AshiaProduction: Caecilia Dilli\, Regina Audrey Ivana Zakariah \n📍 Teater Kecil\, Taman Ismail Marzuki

SUMMARY:The Synthetic of Hybrid Beings
DESCRIPTION:This work in development explores the transformation of the trans body through the process of Hormonal Replacement Therapy (HRT). Like nuclear fusion that combines atomic nuclei into a more powerful and complex entity\, HRT unites organic biology and medical technology to create a new hybrid identity. The trans body becomes a field where the boundaries between nature and technology become blurred. More than a medical treatment\, HRT is also an artistic and cultural act. In this post-human era\, the trans body is no longer a mere biotic entity\, rather a symbol of the dynamic evolution of human identity\, a living work of art that reflects the human journey that is always in a state of flux and always beyond the traditional concept of humanity that we previously understood. \nCredits:Produser: Dara HanafiChoreographer: Ishvara DevatiCo-researcher & Observer: Angelissa MelissaComposer: Arham AryadiLighting Artist: Apry Wibowo \n📍 Teater Kecil\, Taman Ismail Marzuki

SUMMARY:PAN XIAN
DESCRIPTION:How can traditional performing arts be revived and appreciated in the future? \nThe dance piece Pan Xian contemplates the latent need for faith and deities in folk culture\, while also highlighting the impact of current social movements in Taiwan. This work interlaces historical memories\, issues of gender identities\, traditional arts\, and its ceremonial framework. \nIn Pan Xian\, choreographer Huang Huai-Te reexamines a particular ceremonial practice within the Xique (traditional Han opera) culture and Taoist ritual. Like other fading forms of performance\, Pan Xian\, which serves as an opening act for opera\, is heavily influenced by modern media. Borrowing a comforting form of ritual\, Pan Xian recreates an opportunity for both the artist and the audience to engage in a dialogue with tradition and rediscover the possible meaning of culture. \nCredits:Choreographer/Music Director: Huang Huai-TeAdministrator: Chuang Ping-HengPerformers: Fang I-Sung\, Kao Chih-Cheng\, Chuang Yueh\, Chen Yu-Hsiang\, Huang Bo-Yu\, Tsou Ying-Lin\, Hsieh Kuang-YuLighting Designer: Lin ChoProps Designer : Huang Li-YingCostume Designer: Li Yu-ShengComposer: Ho\, Hong-Chi (Senior Member of Ju Percussion Group)Music Source: Chen Guan-Hua Folk Music Ensemble\, JU Percussion GroupMusic Executor: Liu Po-YinAdministrative Staff: Lin Chih-YuRehearsal Assistant: Chao Yi-Ying \nSpecial thanks to: Second Brother of Wufengxuan (Xingang\, Chiayi)\, Taipei Performing Arts Center\, National Taiwan University of Arts \nSponsor:
